Weird advice? On first read, it is, but wait till you finish reading my entire post.

Sean, my neighbor in Nevada, wrote me an email seeking advice on his recurring wrist pain. I work for a company distributing ergonomics office equipments and I often update this blog, not solely for business interest, but my sincere advocacy to impart among my readers the importance of understanding the science of ergonomics and how it can improve their work or how they can live sans pain and unnecessary discomfort.

Initially, I advised Sean to see his doctor and update me with his doctor’s findings. My gut feel was to make sure that Sean gets immediate professional attention first before I “lecture” him on the possible cause of his wrist pain.

Two weeks later, he called back telling me that he was diagnosed to be suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and was advised to cut down on his drinking and smoking. He wondered (very typical of Sean) why his doctor checked on his lifestyle behavior; he was not complaining of chest pains or something that could indicate a more serious problem related to smoking or drinking.

Contrary to what most patients suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome may want to believe, lifestyle habits and diet can aggravate inflammation of the nerves located in the wrist, which connects to the arm, shoulders and neck. When you complain of recurring headaches, shoulder pain or wrist pain, the problem may not be localized where the pain is.

Treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome effectively should include other pressure points that may be affected by the inflamed nerves and it should also check other factors that may contribute to the problem, such as diet and lifestyle habits, including the use of office equipments that may not fit the worker. This is where the science of ergonomics kicks in.

Ergonomics is the science of finding a fit between the worker and his machine. It cannot be “one-fits-all” office machines all the time. Repetitive tasks cause injuries and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is one of these injuries, which can be prevented with the use of ergonomically-designed office equipments.

Are you having recurring wrist pain? Shoulder pains, back pains and stiff neck may be the result of having to work on repetitive tasks using office equipments that do not properly support the body while performing these tasks.

Pain can cause you lost hours in your job, which may affect your performance and make you a candidate for lay-off. To protect your job at this time where most of us are trying to keep our heads above the waters, make sure that you eliminate unnecessary pain and discomfort in your life.

Start by choosing to work with an ergonomic keyboard over your old one. Click here for reasonably-priced ergonomics office equipments.

Sean did.

The median nerve in your wrist connects to your arm, which runs up to your shoulders and neck area; treating CTS may become more effective if medical attention is not entirely focused on wrist pain, but on the patient’s upper part of the body as well.

This may be one of the reasons why there are cases of misdiagnosis in the treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Treatment should not be administered solely on the wrist. Other pressure points on the arm and neck region should be checked. At any rate, fixing CTS effectively involves other factors, such as checking your lifestyle habits that may aggravate your condition and changing your diet. For those who are working with computers, you can avoid Carpal Tunnel Syndrome by choosing computer accessories, such as mouse and keyboard that are ergonomically-designed.

Our main site, ErgonomicsMadeEasy.com carries a wide array of ergonomics office equipments and accessories that can prevent the onset of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Take a look!

It has been proven that you cannot just use any kind of keyboard, no matter how you want to save on cost. In the long run, you could be spending more for medical bills and on professional fees of a Chiropractor. Read and understand the science of Ergonomics, which can reduce, if not totally eliminate, pain from your life.

There are videos and reading materials on the internet that specifically address the problem of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, but your regular use of ergonomics office equipments may provide you with instantaneous relief. All of ergonomics computer accessories, desks, tables and other office equipments in our website come at reasonable prices, which are far cheaper than the cost of your lost hours from your job when CTS strikes. Think about it!

How does the use of Ergonomic Keyboard help? This article explains why more and more people are switching to ergonomically-designed office equipments. Find out how Ergonomics can help you, too.

David Koeppel of MSN Money reports that the global crisis has not spared thousands of people in the real-estate industry, which scored a massive lay-off of at least 7,000. This is ironic in an industry that has produced millionaires among ordinary men and women in recent years. Today, even these real estate agents-turned- millionaires are facing a bleak future.

This makes a lot of us realize how fleeting good times are and how immensely necessary it is to hold on to the jobs we still have.

But can you secure your employment in an uncertain economy? Fact is, you can.

Unless facing bankruptcy, no employer will let go of an employee who has performed well on his job. You won’t second-guess what happens to an employee who is always on sick leave. However, most often than not, employees who felt sick were not actually sick, but could be suffering from Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI).

RSI is characterized by all sorts of pain- wrist pain, shoulder pain and back pain, to name a few. What employers failed to realize was, they too, could have contributed to their employees’ aches, which intensify poor performance; those names they have submitted to the lay-off list were actually unwitting victims of inappropriate office equipments in the workplace.

How Ergonomics can Save the Day

For the employee, his knowledge of Ergonomics can impact his efficiency at work, which the boss will surely take notice of and would secure his tenure on his job and might even qualify him for a raise!

For the employer, the study of Ergonomics will minimize, if not totally eliminate, lost hours on the job by an employee suffering from RSI.

What is Ergonomics?

Ergonomics is the study of man and his machine. It focuses on finding a “fit” between a person’s job and suitable equipments he should use that will optimize his productivity while promoting his well-being. As a saying goes, “Health is Wealth. When health is lost, everything is lost.”

The human body is like machine. It has tolerance levels for stress and repetitive tasks however when limits are exceeded, repetitive strain injuries can occur and these can lead to disability. The good news is, the study of ergonomics in recent years have rubbed on a lot of people concerned about well-being in the workplace and has inspired manufacturers to produce ergonomically-designed office equipments that can prevent RSI.

Where to Buy Ergonomically-Designed Office Equipments

The internet spews out 385,000 links for the search terms “ergonomics office equipments”. This number gives one an idea just how extensive the study of ergonomics has become in recent years. It will surely quadruple in the coming months and years as more and more people are becoming aware of how helpful it is to choose ergonomically-designed office equipments than just pick up a new model in the market.

A lot of websites, like ErgonomicsMadeEasy.com, sell reasonably-priced ergonomic office equipments, such as ergonomic keyboards, mouse, pads, desks and accessories that can protect users from the ill-effects of repetitive tasks. Unlike ordinary keyboards, ergonomically-designed keyboards and pads can actually increase productivity as they maximize speed at work by protecting hands from symptoms of RSI; wrists can develop carpal-tunnel syndrome, which can be debilitating and often result to an employee’s “downtime”.

Minimize Layoff, Switch to Ergonomics

In a troubled economy, down-sizing an organization can be a remedy however an employer should not readily consider this as his ultimate option. The use of ergonomically-designed office equipments can increase productivity at lesser cost than sending employees you have already trained to your competitor’s door when economy improves, as it always will. Imagine how costly it is to advertise and train again when you need the skills-set of those people you have terminated or laid-off at a “bad” time, which can only be temporary.

Switching to Ergonomics can be your answer to difficult times – not layoff.

For more information about Ergonomics or to learn more about RSI or a sneak peek at some of our ergonomically-designed office equipments for your company, kindly visit ErgonomicsMadeEasy.com.

A surefire formula against lay-off of employees due to performance mediocrity is to provide an environment for them to improve or develop efficiency at work. Employers should realize that between letting go of an employee and hiring a new one; the latter can still be more costly. Training takes time and momentum at work is not built in one day.

Definitely, an efficient (and effective) employee is an unlikely candidate to the lay-off list; no employer can afford to let go of an employee who adds value to his company. However, an employee can only do so much. He makes do with what he is given at work. He cannot choose his PC or the chair he sits on. Repetitive Stress Injuries experienced at the work place are getting common.

But as it is, competition is fierce. Employees should make a difference at work that the boss can take notice of and working hard can come with a price. Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI) can stifle an employee’s chance to shine while his employer can lose out on days his employee is on leave.

Repetitive Stress Injuries are caused by repetitive tasks over a period of time. Left unattended, repetitive stress injuries can cause disability. Don’t jeopardize your employees health and career. Find out how Ergonomic office equipments can mutually benefit your employees and you. Get help here.
